Due to the increase in attendance the past few years, the 2009 Annual Alumni Banquet was held June 27th in the Shoals High School Gymnasium.

The month of October has been plagued with Halloween vandalism for as long as any of us can remember. To some this is referred to as ‘good clean fun’ but for the victim there is nothing fun about it. Trespassing and vandalism are criminal felonies and offenders can be prosecuted resulting in a police record that will be with them for life.
A few members of our Church and I recently had the privilege of helping one of our local school teachers clean up after his residence was vandalized. As were working, he mentioned how the money that the vandals had spent on all the ‘supplies’ for their act could have been put to better use. His excellent suggestion is outlined below.

The Shoals Senior Beta Club raises money for this service project. They combine their funds with Beta Clubs across the state of Indiana for a statewide service project to support “Camp About Face”.
Camp About Face A camping adventure for youth, ages 8 to 18, with craniofacial anomalies.
Recreational activities designed to develop new skills challenge your child, and increase self-confidence through: Canoeing Swimming Hiking Arts and Crafts Interaction with others with similar social and medical experiences in a traditional summer camp setting help your child grow socially.
Trained counselors are positive role models who monitor activities to teach your child that success can be achieved.

Camp About Face Leadership Academy An opportunity for older adolescents and young adults to develop self-awareness, interpersonal skills and leadership skills by leading selected activities for younger campers, keeping a journal of camp experiences and continuing relationships with adult mentors after camp.
